Midnight Season 2: Best Mythic+ Specs After the October Tuning

Midnight Season 2 opened on August 18 (August 19 in Europe), and class tuning has moved the Mythic+ ranking three times since: on September 22, October 1 and October 6. Patch 12.1.5 arrives today in Europe (October 13 in the Americas), so this is a good moment to see who's on top.

Rankings below are a snapshot from Mythic+ tier lists updated on October 5 and 6, before 12.1.5. Different lists disagree on the details, so we only call a spec "top" when more than one list agrees. Check back after the patch.

The short answer

• Best DPS: Arms Warrior and Elemental Shaman rank at the top on both lists we compared.
• Best tank: Blood Death Knight.
• Best healer: Holy Paladin.

Top DPS

Arms Warrior and Elemental Shaman are at the top across both lists. Arcane Mage also sits near the top, and Assassination Rogue is rated top-tier on one list after the October 6 pass.

The September 22 tuning pass was the biggest one this season. It buffed Frost and Unholy Death Knight, Augmentation Evoker, Devastation Evoker, Fire Mage and Subtlety Rogue. The October 6 pass followed with a buff to Devourer Demon Hunter (8 to 10%), Enhancement Shaman (4%) and Unholy's Blightfall.

Tank and healer

Blood Death Knight is the top tank on every list we looked at. The September pass trimmed its damage by 6% but raised Death Strike healing by 15%, and it stayed on top.

Holy Paladin is the top healer. Restoration Shaman is also rated very high on some lists, and Restoration Druid moved up to the second tier in the latest rerank.

Specs that moved

• Demonology Warlock dropped from the very top to the second tier in Mythic+ after the late-August lists.
• Unholy Death Knight fell in Mythic+ even after its September buffs, but it ranks high for raid.
• Augmentation Evoker remains low in Mythic+ on every list.

What patch 12.1.5 changes

Patch 12.1.5 lands today in Europe and yesterday in the Americas, so these rankings will move again. When a new patch arrives, tier lists usually take a week or two to settle. Wait for real key data before switching specs.

How to use a tier list

• Pick a spec you enjoy first. The gap between the top tiers is small, and playing well matters more than the letter next to your spec.
• Wait for scores. Early tier lists use estimates. Real top-player data shows up in the weeks after a tuning pass.
