Updated October 12, 2026 · based on the beta, balance may change at launch
Reliable ranged damage with excellent control. Frost Nova, Polymorph and slows make dungeon pulls safer, and AoE is strong.
Highest burst of the Mage specs and strong sustained single-target damage, at the cost of less control than Frost.
Damage-over-time spreads well across multiple targets, and Fear and Healthstones give the group extra safety.
High ranged burst damage with a pet tank out. A little more demanding on mana than Affliction.
Steady ranged damage and a pet that adds threat and utility, and it is easy to play well in any group.
Consistent melee damage with Sinister Strike and Blade Flurry, plus Kick and stuns for interrupts.
Scales well with gear and reaches full strength once Death Wish arrives at level 30.
Higher single-target damage from range, but it needs good gear and positioning to beat Beast Mastery.
Poison and burst damage on single targets, strongest when fights are short and you can open from stealth.
Strong two-handed melee damage with Mortal Strike-style burst, but less consistent than Fury in long fights.
Melee damage with useful totems, and Windfury is great for a group of melee players.
Ranged burst damage with shocks and Lightning Bolt, a flexible pick but it can run low on mana.
Strong damage-over-time and mana return for the group, but a bit fragile against heavy damage.
Cat form deals solid melee damage and brings utility such as Rebirth, though it is gear-dependent.
Ranged damage that is still taking shape in the beta, so expect a slow start and strong utility.
Durable plate melee with good buffs and self-heals, but its damage trails the other DPS specs.
WoW Forever has no public combat logs yet, so this ranking is based on how each spec is designed, the class changes made in the beta and what leveling and dungeon guides report. Specs are placed by how well they do the DPS job in dungeons and raids. Not sure which class to play? See the best class for your goal.
Frost Mage and Fire Mage and Affliction Warlock and Destruction Warlock and Beast Mastery Hunter and Combat Rogue and Fury Warrior rank highest in our current DPS tier list. Reliable ranged damage with excellent control. Frost Nova, Polymorph and slows make dungeon pulls safer, and AoE is strong.
No. WoW Forever has no public combat logs yet, so the ranking follows class design, recent beta changes and what guides report. We update it as soon as real data exists.
Probably. Blizzard is still tuning classes and the level cap is rising, so treat tiers as a starting point and play what you enjoy.
