Best Legacy Perks for Leveling in WoW Forever: Where to Spend Your First 16 Points
The best Legacy perks to take for leveling in WoW Forever, how many points you get at launch, and the setups we'd use for leveling, professions and PvP.
By TopBuilds Team
Legacy is WoW Forever's account-wide progression system, and it's easy to waste your first points on perks you don't need. At launch each character can spend 16 points, even though your account can earn up to 65. Here's where we'd put them while leveling, and what's still unknown.
Everything on this page is based on the current beta, so check back after launch on November 4. For the basics of how the system works, see the Legacy system guide.
The short answer
For a fresh character, take these four perks first:
- Well Rested (Adventure, up to 5 ranks): your rested XP builds 4% faster and caps 4% higher per rank. This is the best leveling perk because it works on every kill.
- Talented (Adventure, up to 5 ranks): you start gaining talent points at level 9 instead of 10. The 51-point total doesn't change, but you reach your talents sooner.
- Thrill of Adventure (Adventure, up to 5 ranks): each killing blow on a non-trivial enemy gives you 1% of your health and mana over 10 seconds at rank 1. It's ineffective in dungeons, so it's for questing.
- Reinforce (Resourcefulness, 1 rank to start): you take 8% less durability loss when you die per rank, which adds up if you die often.
That uses 16 points, the cap at launch.
Why these four
Well Rested is the only perk that speeds up leveling itself. A bigger and faster-growing rested pool matters on every long grind. It also pairs with campfires, which let you rest in the open world.
Talented is quieter: you get your first talent point at level 9, so your build comes together a level earlier.
Thrill of Adventure replaces some of your downtime. It's most useful for classes that need to recover mana between pulls.
When to skip Reinforce
If you rarely die, put the extra point into Well Rested or Talented instead. Reinforce is insurance for deaths, not a leveling speed perk.
Other setups
The same 16 points work differently for other goals:
| Setup | Take first | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Leveling | Well Rested, Talented, Thrill of Adventure, Reinforce | Fresh characters |
| Professions and gold | Working Overtime, Bountiful Harvest, Bartering, Dedicated Study, Performance Bonus | Crafters and farmers |
| PvP and honor | Reinforce, Gourmand, Permanence, The Quick and the Dead, For Great Honor | Battleground grinders |
Working Overtime gives a higher chance to gain a skill increase on any profession, and Bountiful Harvest finds 20% more scarce materials per rank from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning.
How to earn points quickly
Each completed Legacy Challenge is worth 1 point on your account. Your first point usually comes when your first character reaches level 25, and leveling a second class to 25, 45 and 60 earns more. You can also reach the 16-point cap on one character: reaching 150 in a crafting profession and exploring the whole map both count.
Can I respec?
Yes. Visit your class trainer and choose to unlearn Legacy perks. In the beta this costs 10 gold, but the launch price isn't confirmed.
Which class benefits most
Legacy perks are small quality-of-life bonuses, not power. If you're still choosing, see best class and the leveling zones route.
