WoW Forever Cooldown Manager: What It Is, How to Turn It On and Its Limits
The WoW Forever beta Cooldown Manager tracks key cooldowns and buffs in a place you choose. How to enable it, which classes can use it and what it cannot track yet.
By TopBuilds Team
The Cooldown Manager is a new built-in interface feature in the WoW Forever beta. It moves your important cooldown and buff tracking off the default action bars into a place you can customize. If you are wondering how Forever players will track abilities without heavy addons, this is Blizzard's answer.
How to turn it on
It is off by default. Open Options, go to Gameplay Enhancement and enable it. This is based on the 24 September 2026 beta build (client 1.60.1.70009). Menus may change in later builds.
Which classes can use it
It started as testable on Druid, Mage, Priest, Warrior and Warlock. Blizzard says more classes will be added in future updates, and a later guide reports that Rogue support followed in an October 1 update. Check your class in game, because this is still a beta feature.
What it does not do yet
- No spell-rank support yet. Blizzard says this is planned for a later beta build.
- Some things cannot be tracked. Healthstone, Arcane Blast, pet cooldowns and item enhancements such as Windfury or rogue poisons are not supported.
- Priests track all spells by default. Many testers find this noisy, so expect to trim the list.
- Mage mana gems need an extra cast before tracking starts cleanly.
- Banes and Curses may not track correctly when you drop and reacquire a target.
- Changing party composition may move players to a different world instance.
Blizzard most wants feedback on which spells should be tracked by default, so if you are in the beta, use the beta forums to share it.
Cooldown Manager or an addon?
Forever uses the same addon limits as modern WoW, so addons that automate combat decisions are restricted, and an official tracker fits that approach. For everything else, such as quests, bags and boss timers, addons are still the way to go. See the best WoW Forever addons and our own free TrainWise addon, which shows which class spells you can learn at your trainer.
Should you rely on it at launch?
Treat it as a nice extra for now. The beta ends on 21 October and all beta characters are wiped (see what carries over), so the version you play at launch may differ. Pick your class first with the class picker, then see how the tracker feels on it.
