Clash Royale Season 88 Balance Changes: Every Buff, Nerf and Rework
Season 88 buffs Lava Hound, Goblin Barrel and X-Bow, and nerfs Barbarian Barrel, Evolved Cannon and Hero Ice Wizard. Every number, plus what it means for your deck.
By TopBuilds Team
Season 88 started on October 5, 2026 and came with a balance update that leans in one direction: win conditions get stronger, while small-spell answers, splash and a few popular support cards get weaker. This page lists every change with the old and new numbers, then explains who benefits and who should rethink their deck.
Buffs
| Card | Change |
|---|---|
| Lava Hound | Damage +34% (53 to 71). Hit speed 0.77 to 0.67 hits per second |
| Goblin Barrel | First hit comes 25% sooner (0.4 to 0.3 seconds) |
| Ram Rider | Damage +8% (250 to 271) |
| X-Bow | Damage +5% (58 to 61) |
| Wall Breakers | Damage +7% (281 to 302) |
| Goblin Drill | Now deals 20 damage to towers (was 0) |
| Three Musketeers | Hit points +3% (883 to 906) |
| Monk | Pensive Protection activates 25% faster (0.9 to 0.7 seconds) |
Nerfs
| Card | Change |
|---|---|
| Barbarian Barrel | Damage -7% (232 to 215). Wall Breakers now survive it |
| Skeletons | Spawn radius -29% (0.74 to 0.53 tiles), so splash clears them more reliably |
| Evolved Cannon | Barrage damage -7% (281 to 261) |
| Hero Ice Wizard | Ability damage -48% (89 to 46). The freeze alone no longer finishes Skeletons or Bats |
| Royal Ghost | Hit points -5% (1,210 to 1,152). Damage +1% (261 to 263) |
| Minion Giant | Hit speed -12% (0.67 to 0.59 hits per second) |
| Elixir Collector | Lasts longer (93 to 110 seconds) but produces less elixir per second (0.08 to 0.07), about 13% less |
Rework and bug fix
- Golden Knight: damage +4% (161 to 168) and dash distance -9% (5.5 to 5.0 tiles).
- Evolved Elite Barbarians: sight range raised from 4.5 to 6.0 tiles, which fixes spear throws ignoring troops outside their normal range.
What this means for your deck
Beatdown gets a real boost. Lava Hound's damage jump is the biggest single buff in the update, and a faster hit rate makes it more dangerous when it reaches the tower. Pair it with a balloon or minions and expect more air-heavy decks on the ladder.
Bridge-spam and siege win conditions are safer. Goblin Barrel lands its first hit sooner, which leaves less time to react. Ram Rider, Wall Breakers and X-Bow all hit a little harder. Barbarian Barrel was one of the cheap answers to Wall Breakers, and it no longer kills them outright.
Skeleton and Bat cycles lose a tool. Hero Ice Wizard's weaker ability and the tighter Skeleton spawn make those cards easier to clean up with splash.
Elixir Collector is riskier. It stays on the field longer, but it produces less. Decks that relied on a quick elixir lead from the Collector should test whether the trade is still worth it.
Quick checklist before ladder
- If you run Wall Breakers, test it against Barbarian Barrel again. The old interaction is gone.
- If you run Evolved Cannon or Hero Ice Wizard, expect slightly weaker defense and check your damage thresholds.
- If you were thinking about trying Lava Hound or X-Bow, this is the season to do it.
Check live card stats on our Clash Royale card pages, compare current ladder decks in Best Decks and see where each card stands on the tier list. Numbers above are the Season 88 values at the time of writing and Supercell can adjust them mid-season.
